Japan is without a doubt the land of the vending machines. It's been estimated that there is 1 machine to every 20 or so people - that's nearly 6 million machines in existence! They dispense just about anything (plus some!), and they can be found nearly everywhere. I like the fact there's usually at least one within easy reach wherever I travel in Japan, ready to top me up for the next leg of my journey.

Most vending machines I've seen in one place so far.
Ice-cream vending machine at Haneda Airport.
"Casual frozen food"? Not sure if I can trust hot foods out of a vending machine. My friend tried the yakisoba and said it was pretty good.
